MEMORIES OF GHS
GHS Memories Dolores Gemenden ---All of my memories of GHS are happy ones. We were so lucky to grow up in the 50’s! We had a great faculty at Germantown, good friends, and lots of clubs and activities from which to choose. I remember fondly such things as Sorority hazing on Germantown Ave., stopping for French fries and a coke with friends after school, and, of course, cheering at the football games. And, who could forget June Day and the flattering gym suits we girls wore?? ***Mr. Krimins and Dr. Mullikin were most memorable to me. Mr. Krimins was friendly and generally a nice guy and I feel that Dr. Mullikin contributed to my love of mathematics. |
Life After GHS>
***After leaving GHS, I attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown. I graduated in 1961 with an AB degree in psychology and a minor in elementary education. After being married, I taught 2nd grade in the Allentown school district until my first child was born. I then became a stay at home mom and had two more children. I have two sons, a daughter, and five grandchildren (soon to be six).
***We moved to the west coast of Florida in 1976 where I tried my hand at owning and operating a child care center. In addition, I’ve worked in real estate, banking, and ended up back in education in 1985. I taught 3rd and 4th grades for 16 years in a private school in Clearwater, FL.
***I’ve been retired for three years now and am enjoying every minute of it. Now I have more time for my grandchildren and doing the things I enjoy such as traveling, aerobics and cycling at the gym, reading, and playing bridge and Mah Jongg. Life is good!!
